Conception

 

Fences was conceptualized as I played with various ways to create a modern homage to the zarapes of my Mexican-American childhood. I wanted to do something very minimalist and graphic that worked with that transitional movement of color gradiation. A neon palette was the perfect color story for this. I have since worked this up in a full size quilt using a mid-century fall palette that adds a moodiness to this that I love. Those pictures are forthcoming.

Creation

Fences was designed by hand on Adobe Illustrator. I used American Made Brand® Cotton Solids by Clothworks for all fabric elements, Warm & Natural batting, and Aurifil thread to piece and quilt.
